In September 2019, Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Atlanta, Georgia. As a medical oncologist at CTCA®, Dr. Lingham evaluates and treats patients with various types and stages of cancer. She works with each patient to develop an integrative and personalized treatment plan. “The overall goal for my patients is to use my experience and knowledge to explore the breadth of possible treatment options and improve their quality of life. I want them to experience what life has to offer and reach their personal milestones,” says Dr. Lingam.

Dr. Lingam works primarily in the Thoracic Department and focuses on thoracic malignancies. As a clinical research investigator, she helps open clinical trials and enroll qualified patients with different tumor subtypes in relevant studies. Dr. Lingam believes that clinical trials are crucial for getting new drugs and other treatment options to patients early, when those options may make an important impact.

Dr. Lingam also believes it is essential to encourage patients to learn as much as they can about their disease and treatments available to them. “Patient empowerment revolves around education,” says Dr. Lingam. “I educate my patients and their family members and take as much time as needed to answer their questions. When patients understand their treatment options, they are more actively involved in decision-making and not just passive participants in their care.”

Dr. Lingam received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, then earned a medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. After completing an internal medicine residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, she went on to complete a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Board certified in medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Lingam has practiced in a variety of health care settings since 2007. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Outside of CTCA, Dr. Lingam enjoys spending time with friends and family. She loves traveling and exploring different cultures. When she isn’t enjoying physical fitness, Dr. Lingam may be found watching movies, trying new restaurants or listening to music.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
