Anesthesiologist
P. Grace Harrell, M.D., M.P.H., is the medical director of anesthesia at City of Hope® Orange County, where she helps patients stay comfortable and pain-free during surgery. She combines her deep knowledge of anesthesiology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology with compassion — meeting patients where they are and partnering to support their health and well-being.
Dr. Harrell earned both her medical degree and master’s in health care policy and management from Harvard Medical School. She completed her anesthesia residency and a fellowship in pain management at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a fellowship in critical care anesthesia at Tufts Medical Center and a postdoctoral fellowship in biostatistics at Harvard. She is also board certified in medical acupuncture.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Harrell taught at Harvard as an instructor and assistant professor of anesthesia. She is passionate about offering patients multimodal, personalized care before and after surgery.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Harrell enjoys birdwatching, DIY projects and stargazing.
