Fang Fan, M.D., Ph.D., brings nearly 30 years of experience in pathology to City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, specializing in diagnostic cytopathology and surgical pathology. She finds great fulfillment in using her skills to identify disease at the molecular level and guide treatment plans.
Dr. Fan earned her medical degree at Shanghai Medical School at Fudan University in China, before moving to the United States, where she built a lengthy career at the University of Kansas Medical Center. There, she earned her Ph.D., completed her residency and postdoctoral fellowship in pathology, and went on to serve as Director of Cytopathology and Barbara F. Atkinson Endowed Professor of Pathology.
Recognized as a “Top Doctor” and honored for excellence in teaching, Dr. Fan is a respected leader in her field. She has authored hundreds of scholarly articles and presentations, and co-edited both a widely used cytopathology review book and a Chinese textbook on exfoliative cytopathology.
Dr. Fan is excited to join City of Hope, where she says, “the leadership has great vision, the physician group is diverse, and there is strong support for both clinical service and research.”
