Diana DaBell, MD, FACEP, is an emergency medicine physician at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix. She supports patients in our Phoenix hospital and evaluation and treatment center, offering compassionate and expert care for a wide range of emergency medical issues.
“I evaluate City of Hope patients for urgent matters. If I can treat them and get them back home, I do, or if they need to be admitted, then I facilitate that,” Dr. DaBell explains. “I also respond to emergencies in the hospital and consult with patients’ oncology teams to plan their next steps when a crisis comes up.”
Prior to joining City of Hope, Dr. DaBell was a board-certified emergency medicine physician at several medical centers across Arizona. After her own experiences as a cancer patient at City of Hope Phoenix, she was inspired to seek out a position there.
“The City of Hope team made me feel well-cared for,” she recalls. “So when I went back to work, I noticed myself gravitating toward cancer patients in the ER and being a good listener.”
Dr. DaBell’s expertise includes managing emergency needs involving issues such as intubation, placing intravenous lines and draining fluid buildup. She has training in basic life support, advanced trauma life support and advanced cardiac life support. She speaks English and fluent Czech. Dr. DaBell earned her medical degree at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah and completed her residency in emergency medicine at Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo in New York, New York.
Dr. DaBell enjoys spending time with her twin daughters and loves to travel. Her favorite recent trip was to Antarctica.
