Daniel Jae Kim, M.D., is a medical oncologist and hematologist at City of Hope® South Pasadena. Dr. Kim has a passion for enhancing the patient experience by providing both education and greater access to innovative treatment options for those diagnosed with cancer.
“Being diagnosed with cancer is overwhelming in itself,” he says. “Navigating the maze of insurance, referrals, lab work, treatment options and potential hospital stays can add unnecessary stress. I want to help ease that burden.”
Originally on the path to becoming an engineer, Dr. Kim changed focuses to pursue medicine because he was drawn to the human connection that is central to a career as a doctor. As a specialist in hematology-oncology, Dr. Kim provides leading-edge care to patients at our South Pasadena clinic, guiding them through the complexities of cancer treatment with clarity and compassion.
Dr. Kim earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and received his medical degree from Loma Linda University in California. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship training at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
Deeply committed to global service, Dr. Kim has participated in medical outreach missions through Global Health Outreach in countries such as Honduras, Mexico and North Korea.
