Urologist
Cory Hugen, M.D., M.S., is a distinguished urologic surgeon and clinical researcher with extensive experience leading and collaborating on clinical trials. A decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, Dr. Hugen has balanced a commitment to patient care with his efforts to advance the field of urologic oncology.
Dr. Hugen earned his medical degree from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine just outside Chicago, where he also completed a residency in urology. After medical school, he served as a staff urologist in the U.S. Air Force, with clinical roles in San Antonio, Texas, and during deployment at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
After his military tenure, Dr. Hugen pursued further specialization with a Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He also obtained a master’s degree in clinical, biological and translational investigations and, before joining City of Hope Orange County, served as an associate clinical professor and head of the Division of Urologic Oncology at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Hugen’s clinical focus includes the management of cancers of the bladder, kidney, testicles and penis. He was drawn to City of Hope for its deep commitment to delivering top-tier cancer treatment. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Hugen enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, reading and traveling.
