Board-certified in diagnostic radiology and fellowship-trained in clinical breast imaging, Connie Jones, MD, is the Medical Director of Breast Imaging at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix. An expert in her field, Dr. Jones has more than 25 years’ experience as a clinician and has helped create and build breast diagnostic imaging programs and departments at multiple institutions across the country.
Dr. Jones is dedicated to offering patients access to the latest in breast cancer detection and diagnosis options. She has worked to improve screening programs for women at high risk of developing breast cancer — including incorporating genetic risk assessment into screening protocols. Her clinical work incorporates approaches such as digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography), breast ultrasound, breast MRI, image-guided breast biopsy and other advanced diagnostic radiology techniques.
A member of the Society of Breast Imaging and the American College of Radiology, Dr. Jones has served on multiple committees focusing on oncology and breast cancer care for both her immediate community in Arizona and for national organizations.
She is the author of The Breast Test Book: A Woman’s Guide to Mammography and Beyond, published in 2017 by Oxford University Press (along with editor Dr. Michael Linver). Written in understandable lay language, the book is practical and can guide patients and their physicians seamlessly through the breast imaging process. The material is based on the solid fundamentals of current scientific research, established practice standards and the many years of practical experience accumulated by a fellowship-trained breast radiologist, the physician best able to discuss the particulars of the breast imaging evaluation.
Dr. Jones earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by two years of a residency in psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. She then completed a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where she also completed her clinical breast imaging fellowship training.
Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Jones enjoys writing, eco-printing and interior design.
