Christian Lu, M.D., M.H.S., is an assistant clinical professor and palliative care specialist at City of Hope®, where he supports a whole-person approach to cancer care. He works closely with patients and their care teams to help maintain the best possible quality of life. With experience providing palliative care in skilled nursing facilities and home care, Dr. Lu also partners with families to create supportive environments for patients beyond the hospital.
Prior to City of Hope, Dr. Lu held leadership roles in palliative care at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and also cared for patients through Monarch Hospitalist Associates in Irvine and OC Comprehensive Care in Santa Ana.
Dr. Lu studied public health at Johns Hopkins University, where he also earned a master’s degree in molecular biology and biochemistry. He later completed a master’s degree in bioethics at Trinity International University before earning his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He trained in internal medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital and the University of Southern California, followed by a fellowship in palliative medicine at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles.
Dedicated to serving diverse communities, Dr. Lu is fluent in Filipino, Mandarin and Spanish.
