Medical Oncologist
Charles B. Nguyen, M.D., is a medical oncologist at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center. Dr. Nguyen specializes in treating cancers of the genitourinary system, including kidney, bladder and prostate cancer. He is passionate about bringing the latest research and treatments to his patients through clinical trials, including the phase 2 FORTUNE study in non-clear cell kidney cancer.
In his research work, Dr. Nguyen works to understand how cancer behaves at a genetic level, with the goal of personalizing care and improving outcomes. His work has been published in top medical journals such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology Precision Oncology and he has presented his findings at major cancer conferences including the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Nguyen earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, then completed his internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his training with a hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He has received multiple awards and is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes doctors who treat patients with compassion and respect. He speaks fluent Vietnamese.
