Chanwang (Channing) Park, MD, is an anesthesiologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. He brings a rare combination of data-driven expertise and deep compassion to his work with patients facing a wide range of cancer diagnoses, and his goal in the clinic and the operating room is to help people feel safe and listened to during their care.
Dr. Park brings to City of Hope his extensive experience in both anesthesiology and clinical informatics. While serving as a clinical anesthesiologist within the Indiana University Health system, he led major informatics initiatives aimed at strengthening information security, improving clinical quality and ensuring regulatory compliance in his role as chief information officer for Anesthesia Consultants of Indianapolis. He has remained active in professional leadership, serving on the board of the Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists and as a longtime member of the House of Delegates for the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Widely regarded as a role model for Korean students pursuing medical careers in the United States, Dr. Park earned his medical degree from Yonsei University in Korea. He completed his internship and residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine and later attained board certification in clinical informatics. His ongoing academic interests include data science, machine learning and advanced statistical methods.
Fluent in Korean, Dr. Park finds his greatest fulfillment in helping reassure patients, especially those facing language barriers.
