About Me

Catherine Chan, DO, is a nocturnist and assistant professor of hospital medicine at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. Dr. Chan chose internal medicine as a specialty because it enables her to deliver the kind of individualized care she would want for her own loved ones. She takes pride in helping patients fully understand their treatment options—the benefits, risks, and alternatives—and works closely with them to make informed decisions. Her philosophy aligns with City of Hope’s patient-centered mission, emphasizing collaboration and treating the whole person, not just the disease.

During her postgraduate training at the University of Arizona, Dr. Chan was honored as both intern and resident of the year. She has also gained valuable experience serving vulnerable communities, including immigrants and unhoused individuals, and has participated in global medical missions to Uganda and Honduras. A native of Arcadia, California, Dr. Chan is grateful for the opportunity to care for patients in her home community.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
