About Me

“Working at City of Hope has allowed me to combine my passions and interests,” says Benjamin Baker, Nurse Practitioner in Surgical Oncology at City of Hope Atlanta. “I enjoy caring for patients, practicing medicine and working on a multidisciplinary team of doctors and clinicians.”

Baker joined City of Hope in June 2016. His goal is to provide high-quality, coordinated care to all his patients. Baker works in the inpatient surgical department caring for patients undergoing surgical procedures. In that role, he provides post-operative care for patients with all cancer types, including colon, pancreatic, liver, lung, ovarian, endometrial, breast, prostate, bladder, kidney and other cancers. Baker strives to help patients reduce pain and recover faster after surgery.

Baker completed a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. He then earned a Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduation, he received a nurse practitioner certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. He is a member of several organizations, including the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Baker’s career in health care began in 1999 as an Air Force combat medic. He also has worked as a critical care nurse in several hospital departments, including surgical, trauma, medical and cardiac ICUs. During Baker’s career, he also has worked as a charge nurse in the ICU and for the Atlanta VA Medical Center. His passion and experience eventually led him to City of Hope.

Baker enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He loves to travel, exercise and cook on the grill.
Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
