M.D.
Surgical Oncologist
“What brings me the greatest joy is building a bond of trust with my patients during some of the most difficult moments in their lives,” says Aziz Ahmad, M.D., a surgical oncologist at City of Hope® Glendora. A highly respected surgeon known for his expertise, kindness and his sense of humor, Dr. Ahmad has been described by patients as “an angel” and “a surgeon’s surgeon.”
Dr. Ahmad specializes in colorectal cancer surgery, but he also treats patients with cancers affecting other parts of the body, including the stomach, liver and pancreas. He sees patients at City of Hope’s Glendora and Rancho Cucamonga locations. Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Ahmad spent eight years treating patients through the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, one of the Bay Area’s largest health care networks.
After earning his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, Dr. Ahmad completed his internship and surgical residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He went on to complete a fellowship in surgical oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica. He came to City of Hope to work alongside a team he describes as deeply committed to their patients.
“If I can’t help someone directly,” he says, “I know I’m surrounded by colleagues who share the same passion and will do everything they can to help.”
