Radiation Oncologist
Arya Amini, M.D., grew up in Southern California and is deeply grateful for the chance to care for people in the community he calls home.

A nationally recognized expert in radiation oncology, Dr. Amini is the chief of thoracic radiotherapy at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where he provides expert care using a wide range of advanced radiation therapies, including image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)—all designed to target tumors more precisely and reduce side effects.
Dr. Amini is also a dedicated researcher who studies treatment trends, looks for ways to improve outcomes using combined therapies and identifies disparities in care. He leads clinical trials in lung, skin and head and neck cancers, and has earned several research grants to advance this work. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed studies and received numerous awards for his contributions to cancer care, including being named one of the city’s top doctors in 2020 according to Los Angeles Magazine.
Dr. Amini earned his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine, where he also completed his internship. Then, he pursued a radiation oncology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. Dr. Amini values a team-based approach and is excited to collaborate with expert colleagues across specialties at City of Hope to provide well-rounded, patient-centered care.
