M.D.
Radiation Oncologist
As a radiation oncologist at City of Hope® Sherman Oaks, April Vassantachart, M.D., treats patients with a wide range of cancer types, considering it an honor to support them and their loved ones throughout their cancer journey. A native of Southern California, Dr. Vassantachart believes that building a meaningful connection with her patients—one grounded in listening, trust and collaboration—is essential to creating care plans tailored to each person’s unique needs.
Dr. Vassantachart was inspired to pursue radiation oncology because it merges her passion for physics and technology with the practice of medicine, allowing her to deliver precise, non-invasive treatments that improve care and quality of life. She has contributed to journals including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics, publishing work on how health literacy affects patients’ understanding of radiation therapy. She also authored a book chapter on managing brain metastases with the use of intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Vassantachart enjoys tending to exotic houseplants, playing pickleball, hiking California’s mountain trails and discovering new restaurants across Los Angeles.
