Putting patients first is central to the clinical and research work of Anthony S. Stein, M.D., a hematologist-oncologist and the director of the Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where he has served patients since 1985. In addition to his leadership role with the Gehr Family Center – which is part of the Hematologic Malignancies Research Institute – Dr. Stein is a professor in the Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation.
Originally from South Africa, Dr. Stein earned his medical degree at the University of Cape Town, before completing his medical training in the United States at Montefiore Medical Center in Pittsburgh and as a hematology-oncology fellow at City of Hope.
Dr. Stein leads multiple clinical research studies that area focused on advancing treatment options for patients with acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoid leukemia and for those undergoing stem cell transplants.
