2005-2009, Radiation Oncology, University of Colorado Denver, Denver, CO
Amanda Schwer, M.D., is a radiation oncologist who has wanted to care for people with cancer for as long as she can remember. Her inspiration came from a personal place — watching the doctors who helped cure her sibling’s aggressive illness during childhood. Today, she brings that same level of care and compassion to her own patients at City of Hope®, always putting their needs first. As a third-generation Orange County native, Dr. Schwer is honored to provide advanced cancer care to the community she knows and loves.
She earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where she also completed a preliminary medicine internship. She then pursued a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Colorado Denver, where she served as chief resident. Prior to joining City of Hope, Dr. Schwer treated patients at Hoag Memorial Hospital, where she gained deep experience in stereotactic radiation — a technique that delivers high-dose radiation precisely to tumors while protecting nearby healthy tissue.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Schwer enjoys surfing, skiing and boating, and loves spending time with her spouse and three young children.
