Dr. Ahmad Hammad joined City of Hope Atlanta in August 2021. As a medical oncologist, Dr. Hammad evaluates and treats patients with various types and stages of cancer, with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer and thoracic cancers. He works alongside a team of doctors, clinicians and nurses dedicated to helping patients aggressively fight cancer and manage their quality of life.
At City of Hope, Dr. Hammad works to develop an integrative and treatment plan personalized for each patient. He encourages his patients and their families to take an active role in the treatment decision-making process. Dr. Hammad achieves this by taking as much time as needed to provide education and answer any questions, so they understand their cancer and treatment options.
“My goal is to deliver patient-centered care,” Dr. Hammad says. “I let my patients know that I am with them throughout every step of their treatment journey and healing process. I partner with them through coordinating diagnosis, implementing the treatment plan, monitoring progress and celebrating survivorship.”
Dr. Hammad completed a medical degree from The Jordan University School of Medicine in Jordan. He completed an internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Dr. Hammad is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Hammad has practiced in a variety of healthcare settings since 2007. He has previously held academic appointments as a clinical assistant professor at East Tennessee State University. Dr. Hammad is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Hammad enjoys spending time with friends and family, including his wife and three boys. Together they enjoy soccer, swimming and baseball.
- Patient ratings
- Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
