About Me

Monique S. Davis, LSW, LASOP, is a Behavioral Health Therapist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, where she specializes in helping patients and their loved ones navigate the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis, their treatment regimen and any other stressors that accompany life-changing health issues.

Davis has more than 20 years’ experience as a counselor and mental health professional, including expertise in working with adolescents and children. Prior to joining City of Hope, she served in a leadership role with Nexus-Indian Oaks Family Healing in Manteno, Illinois, overseeing the practice’s clinical work and operations. Although she originally planned to retire from the field of mental health counseling, that changed when her mother was diagnosed with cancer.

“My mother’s Stage 4 non-small cell cancer diagnosis provided me with a different insight that would extend my passion to cancer care,” Davis recalls. “As one of the leading providers of cancer care in the county, City of Hope stood out. The depth of services to support patients and their loved ones was not common practice in many other oncology care settings I explored.”

In her clinical work at City of Hope, Davis supports patients and their loved ones by exploring and practicing new coping mechanisms for emotional regulation and by collaborating with each patient’s care team throughout their cancer journey.

In addition to holding a master’s degree in social work from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, Davis holds multiple certifications in fields such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, therapeutic crisis intervention and the Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths (CANS) method for evaluating patients’ needs.

Outside of her work as a therapist, Davis is the newly appointed vice president of the Mundelein Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, an organization that supports the mission and values of the Mundelein Police Department through volunteerism and fundraising.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
