About Me

Charita Griskell is a registered and licensed dietitian at City of Hope in Atlanta, Georgia. Griskell joined City of Hope in January 2018 and works closely with patients to help them maintain nutritional balance, as well as manage any side effects of cancer treatment. She strives to help patients find a diet that is both comfortable and compatible with their health needs.

“Food is a part of everyday life. It can be mundane or celebratory, but it’s essential to good health,” says Griskell. “I want to help my patients continue to enjoy eating even when it might feel like a chore. I want to teach them that what they eat can have an impact how they feel. Healthy food choices matter, and I try to help guide patients toward them.”

Griskell received a Bachelor of Science degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She also earned a master's degree in nutrition science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham, Alabama. Griskell then completed an internship of over 1200 hours of supervised practice in clinical nutrition, community nutrition and foodservice at the UAB hospital.

After gaining experience as a clinical dietitian, Griskell was drawn to join City of Hope to help others. “The patients at City of Hope bring such joy to my work. I love to help people understand the beauty of food and nutrition and its impact on the body,” says Griskell

Griskell is a member of several professional organizations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, National Organization of Blacks in Nutrition and Dietetics and Greater Atlanta Dietetic Association.

Outside of City of Hope, Griskell enjoys spending time with friends and family. She likes trying new recipes, walking, volleyball, reading and exploring Atlanta.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
