Cancer Treatment Centers of America Chicago Recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence for the Eighth Year in a Row

February 10, 2021

Only Hospital in Illinois Certified by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers® Program.

For the eighth consecutive year, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) Chicago has been recognized as a top center in the country for providing quality breast cancer care by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC®) program. CTCA® Chicago is the only center in Illinois, and one of only 50 centers nationally, to be recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence, reinforcing the hospital’s position as a national leader in breast cancer care.

CTCA Chicago’s Breast Program has been a Certified Breast Center of Excellence since 2013. CTCA has shown excellent commitment to patients and it shows in the NQMBC metrics they enter,” said Aerial Gilbert, Manager of the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) Program. “Comparing quality performance is an essential tool in assessing patient care and improving breast cancer care as a whole.”

As part of the NCBC, the NQMBC is a voluntary program that identifies quality of care measures, provides immediate access to quality information and allows breast centers to compare their performance with other centers across the United States and beyond. In addition to the requirements to become a Certified Participant, the applicant must have supplied 90 percent of the measures for which their quality breast cancer type should be able to measure performance and performed above the 25th percentile.

“To be recognized for the eighth year in a row as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence is an honor for our entire team,” said Pete Govorchin, CTCA Chicago President and CEO. “We strive to always deliver the highest level of clinical quality and patient safety and this recognition is a validation of those efforts.”

Additionally, the Breast Cancer Center at CTCA Chicago is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program for meeting the highest standards of quality cancer care.
