About Me

As a Nurse Practitioner, Sarah Ontiveros works closely with patients to provide personalized cancer care. In October 2018, Ontiveros joined City of Hope in Phoenix. She is inspired by the Mother Standard® of care, the organization’s desire to provide a patient-centered approach to cancer treatment.

"The patient-centered philosophy and collaborative work environment are what drew me here," says Ontiveros. "Patients benefit directly from the approach to deliver high-quality care from a multi-disciplinary team in constant communication.”

Ontiveros is part of the urology team at City of Hope, working with patients who have cancer of the prostate, bladder or kidneys. She believes it is important for patients to understand their disease, know all of the options available, and to be comfortable with the choice of treatment that they select. Ontiveros educates patients and answers any questions they may have so that they can be active participants in the treatment decision-making process.

Ontiveros earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She went on to complete a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Arizona State University in Phoenix. She began her career as a registered nurse in 2009. She has previously worked in a variety of hospital and clinic settings prior to joining City of Hope.

Striving to stay abreast of the very latest in cancer care, Ontiveros is devoted to life-long learning. She actively participates in continuing education courses and seminars.

Outside of City of Hope, Ontiveros’ life revolves around her family. She has four children and enjoys spending time with her family. Ontiveros also likes being outdoors and exercising.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
