About Me

Dr. Raquel Prati joined City of Hope Phoenix, in July of 2017. Dr. Prati is Chief of Surgical Services and a Breast Surgeon, who performs oncoplastic surgery, including lumpectomies and mastectomies. When possible, she uses skin-sparing and nipple-sparing techniques, which allow for immediate reconstruction, as she teams up with the plastic surgeon.

"At City of Hope, I focus on treating breast cancer with the latest technology available and using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible,” says Dr. Prati. “But most importantly, I focus on making women more confident with information about their treatment options and educate them about their cancer.”

Originally from Brazil, Dr. Prati attended Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil and earned a medical degree. She then completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre in Brazil and completed a breast surgery residency at the same hospital.

Dr. Prati came to the United States in 2004, completing a clinical fellowship in research and breast surgery at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She was hired as a dedicated breast surgeon and Director of the Breast Cancer High Risk Program and the Breast Cancer Tumor Board at the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center. Dr. Prati is board certified in breast surgery.

Dr. Prati has also held several academic appointments, including Associate Clinical Professor at the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center in the department of surgery and division of surgical oncology. Dr. Prati is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Breast Surgeons

Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Prati enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons. The family likes to go camping and often travels to Dr. Prati’s home country of Brazil.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
