About Me

A Plastic Surgeon at City of Hope Atlanta, Dr. Joel Stewart Jr. specializes in breast reconstruction. He is part of the surgical oncology team addressing the complex surgical needs of breast cancer patients. Patients who have undergone oncoplastic surgery, including lumpectomies and mastectomies, may be referred to Dr. Stewart for breast reconstruction.

“Women who have surgery as part of their breast cancer treatment may choose breast reconstruction surgery to rebuild the shape and look of the breast,” says Dr. Stewart. “There are different options for breast reconstruction and I focus on making women more confident by giving them information about their treatment choices.”

Dr. Stewart received a bachelor’s degree in physical biochemistry from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He earned a medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Stewart completed a general surgery residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Stewart is married, and his wife is a general surgeon. They have three sons and like spending family time together. Dr. Stewart enjoys running, playing in bands and watching SEC football.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
