About Me

Andra Matthews joined City of Hope Atlanta as a registered nurse in September 2013 and transitioned to her current role as a nurse practitioner in March 2021. Matthews oversees care for patients with all cancer types and stages. She is focused on delivering patient-centered and personalized cancer care.

At City of Hope, Matthews is part of a multidisciplinary team focused on managing individualized treatment plans for cancer patients. She is responsible for continuity of care, ensuring accurate diagnoses, treatments, symptom management and survivorship support. Matthews also educates her patients and takes time to answer any questions, so that they understand their cancer and treatment options.

“My goal working at City of Hope is to truly get to know my patients and their families,” says Matthews. “I strive to help my patients experience a positive quality of life by proactively monitoring and quickly addressing any side effects they may experience.”

Matthews graduated from LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She graduated with a Master of Science degree in nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Matthews is a certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has worked in various hospital and clinic settings prior to joining City of Hope.

Outside of City of Hope, Matthews enjoys spending time with her husband, two grown children and grandson. She also likes traveling and participating in outreach ministries.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
