A comprehensive evaluation
Your evaluation at CTCA® will take about three to five days. During that time, you’ll meet with your medical oncologist who will review your medical history, perform health assessments and recommend diagnostic tests to determine the location, stage and extent of the cancer. You will also meet with a nurse and care manager, and depending on your needs and preferences, you may choose to see a registered dietitian, naturopathic oncology provider, chiropractor and/or other supportive care service provider.
Care under one roof
For your convenience, most or all of your appointments will take place in one location, so that you can relax and focus on your treatment options.
When you first arrive at the hospital, you will be assigned a care manager, who is your advocate throughout the entire evaluation process. Your care manager is available 24/7 in case you have any questions, need clarification or would just like to talk.
Your integrative treatment plan
Once you and your medical oncologist decide which cancer treatments you’ll receive, you will have the option of meeting with a dietitian, naturopathic oncology provider and other clinicians, who may augment your treatment plan by recommending therapies to support you during treatment and help you manage side effects.
After discussing your options, it is up to you whether you’d like to start treatment. In some cases, patients who choose to treat at CTCA after their evaluation can begin treatment immediately.
Reduced wait times for appointments and results
We understand that waiting for test results can create a great deal of stress. To ease anxiety and help begin your cancer treatment sooner, an onsite lab at each hospital enables us to provide reduced wait times for appointments and test results.
Our turnaround time goal—from the time of the scan to providing results so treatment planning can begin—is four hours.
We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your evaluation. Our mind-body medicine, pain management and nutrition teams work with you to provide relaxation techniques, medications and dietary recommendations to help alleviate anxiety, discomfort or other symptoms you may be experiencing.
Our imaging team uses padding and comfort equipment, as well as a variety of positioning devices, to help you feel more relaxed during scans and procedures.
