“Tried and true methods involving hard work, compassion and motivation.” That is how Dr. Stephen Lynch, Primary Care and Intake Physician and Vice Chief of Staff at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) Phoenix, describes his approach to medicine. At CTCA®, he found an environment to match that philosophy. “It’s a comprehensive culture of caring for patients and families,” says Dr. Lynch. “We make every effort to empower and educate those we serve, and we do so from the first day they arrive.”
Dr. Lynch earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Wilkes University and received his Doctor of Medicine at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 1998. He completed his family medicine residency at Virtua-West Jersey Family Practice, serving as Chief Resident from 2000 to 2001.
Following his postgraduate training, Dr. Lynch provided inpatient and outpatient care as part of a private practice in Florida. During that time, he served as a voluntary assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Miami. Later, he focused exclusively on outpatient care at a large VA clinic in North Carolina. While there, he continued to teach as a volunteer faculty member with the Brody School of Medicine. After 12 years of dedicated medical care, Dr. Lynch turned his attention to his own family, providing several years of full-time parental care for his four children.
Dr. Lynch joined CTCA in June 2016. In addition to providing quality medical care, he stays focused on helping patients and their families feel settled and at peace with their diagnosis and care. “Each patient shares with us what is arguably the most challenging task in their life,” he says. “The inherent nature of those conversations requires a very personal level of concern, and we strive to give that to every patient.”
Board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Lynch holds a medical license from Arizona and North Carolina.
Outside CTCA, Dr. Lynch loves being with his wife, Cynthia, and their children. His interests include golf, running, hiking and music. He is very involved with his church and has also raised money for stroke research as a participant in the 2015 Boston Marathon.
Patient ratings and comments
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
