As Interventional Radiologist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Tulsa, Dr. Jonathon Kirkland cares for a wide spectrum of needs. “I treat nearly all types of cancer,” Dr. Kirkland says, “and work with the entire care team to address whatever issues and concerns our patients may have.”
Dr. Kirkland began his medical training at the University of Central Oklahoma, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He studied medicine at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, completing his Doctor of Osteopathy in 2007. After beginning his postgraduate training at Midwestern University in Illinois, Dr. Kirkland completed a traditional internship followed by a four-year residency in diagnostic radiology. He then completed a fellowship in vascular interventional radiology at the University of Minnesota before joining CTCA® in July 2013.
At CTCA, Dr. Kirkland performs liver-directed and other therapies using specialized techniques. With approaches including radioembolization, kyphoplasty with radiofrequency ablation chemoembolization, and microwave ablation, he treats nearly all cancer types and works closely with medical and radiation oncologists, as well as other clinicians, to provide well-rounded care.
Dr. Kirkland is a licensed osteopathic physician by the State of Oklahoma. He is board certified in radiology by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology, of which he is also a member. He also holds professional memberships with the American Osteopathic Association, the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology and the Society of Interventional Radiology.
When he is not at CTCA, Dr. Kirkland loves spending time with his family. They all enjoy Oklahoma football.
Patient ratings and comments
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
