Jana Chavous joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in April 2010 as a registered nurse, working as a Care Manager and Clinical Resource Nurse. After completing further education, Chavous transitioned to the role of Nurse Practitioner on the pain management team at CTCA® in September 2017.
As part of the pain management team, Chavous is involved in conducting patients’ full medical histories to review past pain medicine usage. She then works to recommend, educate and provide care to patients with all cancer types. “I provide pain management options for patients with the goal of using non-addictive pain medications as much as possible,” says Chavous. “I actively monitor each patient’s pain, and work to help improve quality of life.”
Chavous earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the Northeastern State University in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in healthcare administration from Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Chavous completed a second Master of Science degree, this time in nursing, and was then certified as a nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Chavous has worked in nursing since 1997. She is an active member of several organizations, including the Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner Association and American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Chavous is married with two children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Chavous also loves shopping, watching Oklahoma State University football and gardening.
Patient ratings and comments
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
