In August 2018, Dr. Mubashar Munir joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Atlanta. As a Gastroenterologist trained in advanced endoscopy, including therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, he helps care for patients fighting cancers of the pancreas, stomach, esophagus, colon, liver or bile duct.
“At CTCA®, I am part of a multidisciplinary team of physicians and clinicians focused on patient-centered care,” says Dr. Munir. “I am proud to provide my patients cancer care that is collaborative, coordinated and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values.”
He says he wants his patients to feel empowered to play a role in the treatment decision-making process. “I educate patients to help them learn as much as they can about their disease and treatments options,” says Dr. Munir. “Together, we are a team, working toward one common end goal—to fight cancer.”
Dr. Munir received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College, Mayo Hospital, in Lahore, Pakistan. He moved to the United States and completed an internal medicine internship at New York Medical College’s Mount Vernon Hospital. Dr. Munir then completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital at Columbia University in New York, New York. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.
He began his gastroenterology practice in Texas, working for clinics and medical centers. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Munir joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2011, as a full-time gastroenterologist. He practices at CTCA on a part-time basis as part of a collaborative partnership.
Patient ratings and comments
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
