Interventional Radiologist Tanakorn Songrug, MD, offers a wide range of treatment options to address individual needs based on a patient’s unique cancer. Dr. Songrug joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in August 2015 to be part of a team of doctors and clinicians dedicated to patient-centered cancer care.

At CTCA®, Dr. Songrug diagnoses and treats patients using minimally invasive and innovative techniques in order to minimize risk to patients and help improve of quality of life. Providing these advances in cancer care may also help reduce postoperative pain and improve recovery.

“Many of my patients travel a great distance to come to CTCA,” says Dr. Songrug. “I am focused on providing care worthy of the journey it took for them to get here.”

Dr. Songrug uses the most recent advances in interventional radiology, including SIR-Spheres®, chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation and vertebroplasty to treat cancer patients.

Dr. Songrug received two degrees from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, including a Bachelor of Science in computer sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice. He earned a medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Songrug completed a preliminary medicine internship at the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati in Ohio. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology from the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He went on to complete a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Coral Gables, Florida.

Throughout his education, Dr. Songrug has won several awards for academic achievement. He has an interest in clinical research and has contributed to several published articles and presentations. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology and Radiologic Society of North America.

Outside of CTCA, Dr. Songrug likes spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoys outdoors activities, centerboard dinghy sailing and watching Michigan State Football.
