Sandy Liu, M.D., is a medical oncologist and the medical director of genitourinary medical oncology for City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center. Dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people with cancer through compassionate and conducting leading-edge cancer research, Dr. Liu believes in treating every patient with the same care and attention she would provide to a close family member.
Dr. Liu received her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. During her final year of training there, she joined a medical outreach trip to rural China, where she provided cardiovascular screenings and distributed medications to underserved communities. She completed her internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in New York City and at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was chosen as chief fellow and later served as a clinical instructor and assistant clinical professor.
At City of Hope Orange County, Dr. Liu focuses on treating genitourinary cancers, including cancers of the kidney, prostate, bladder, testicles and urethra. Her research explores new drug therapies and the use of immunotherapy to strengthen the body’s natural ability to fight cancer.
Dr. Liu speaks Mandarin and enjoys staying active through hiking and biking. She also likes to explore new restaurants and travel whenever possible.
