Working in the Quality of Life Center, Dr. Overbaugh will be providing pain management services to patients with all cancer types. He has had extensive experience working with integrative pain management, including acupuncture, chiropractic, rehabilitation, nutrition and others. “I am especially excited to continue working with an interdisciplinary team using a whole-person approach to pain management,” Dr. Overbaugh says. “My goal is to empower our patients to have a true choice in the management of their pain by giving them the tools and opportunities to do so.”

Dr. Overbaugh continues to seek out opportunities to learn about new tools and technologies for pain management. He has a special interest in cryo-neuroablation, which is a technique that utilizes freezing and destruction of painful peripheral nerves under ultrasound guidance. Additionally, he has a clinical interest in kyphoplasty to alleviate pain from metastatic disease to the spine.

Dr. Overbaugh completed his Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame. He then received his Doctorate of Medicine from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Overbaugh completed an anesthesiology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and a pain medicine fellowship at Pennsylvania State University.

With over 16 years of experience in the practice of interventional pain management, Dr. Overbaugh is board certified in both pain medicine and anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has published myriad peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and textbook chapters on topics in pain medicine. He has held academic appointments at several institutions, including the University of New Mexico, the University of Texas Health Science Center and the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda.

When he isn’t practicing medicine, Dr. Overbaugh enjoys motorcycling, marksmanship and spending time with his wife Kristen. As a retired soldier, he is also actively involved in caring for our nation’s veterans and their families.
