“It is wonderful to be part of a patient-centered care team,” says Dr. Rob Mukerjee, Chief of the Department of Anesthesiology at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Philadelphia.

After studying neuroscience at the University of Toronto, in Canada, where he completed his Bachelor of Science, Dr. Mukerjee attended Ross University School of Medicine, completing his Doctor of Medicine in 2003.

He trained as a resident at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT, where he focused on internal medicine. From 2004 to 2007, Dr. Mukerjee was a resident in anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where he later completed fellowship training in chronic and interventional pain management. He joined CTCA® in October 2013.

Dr. Mukerjee is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He holds a medical license by the State of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Philadelphia Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society, and the American Medical Association.

A dedicated volunteer, Dr. Mukerjee has often given his time and expertise, whether through community health fairs, as a patient companion in hospitals, or as a youth group facilitator.

At CTCA, Dr. Mukerjee provides anesthesia for patients undergoing various surgeries including neurosurgical, orthopedic, urological and colorectal cases to name a few. He also provides anesthesia for various pulmonary and gastroenterology procedures.

Dr. Mukerjee specializes in interventional pain management. This is a specific procedure-oriented approach to identify and then attempt to treat the cause of the patient’s pain using various methods including nerve blocks, epidural injections, neuroablative procedures and more advanced techniques including spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pump delivery systems.
