“The atmosphere is what sets this hospital apart,” says Dr. Randall Craft, Vice Chair of the CTCA Department of Surgery, and Chief of Surgical Services and Medical Director of Plastic Surgery at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Phoenix. “Everyone here recognizes and champions the humanity behind the disease.” 

Dr. Craft earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia in 1998, and also studied medical physiology as an undergraduate at the University of Oxford in England. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

His postgraduate training began with a Fellowship in Clinical Training in Microsurgery and Laboratory Research at the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery in Melbourne, Australia. During this time, he also served as Clinical Assistant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital, also in Melbourne.

He completed a residency in General Surgery at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was also Clinical Instructor of Surgery. Dr. Craft completed a second residency in Plastic Surgery at Harvard Plastic Surgery, part of Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he was also a Clinical Fellow for three years. Dr. Craft dedicated himself to community service throughout his education.

From 2012 to 2015, Dr. Craft was a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. He joined CTCA® in April 2015.

Licensed to practice medicine by the State of Arizona, Dr. Craft is Board Certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. His research is published in numerous medical journals including Annals of Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Research, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Archives of Surgery. He has presented his research at several medical conferences both in the United States and abroad.

At CTCA, Dr. Craft works with a multidisciplinary care team in providing the most up-to-date reconstructive options for a variety of cancer types. In his medical director role, he is responsible for efforts to ensure patient safety and seeing that best clinical practices are followed in delivering medical services at the Phoenix hospital.

When he is not at CTCA, Dr. Craft enjoys traveling off the beaten path, cooking and exploring the landscape of Arizona.

CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
