Rachel Ussery joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Atlanta, in November 2018. As a Nurse Practitioner, Ussery is part of a multidisciplinary team using an integrative approach to cancer care, to treat the disease with surgery, chemotherapy and other conventional tools, while also supporting patients’ quality of life with supportive therapies.

“The goal of integrative cancer care is to help patients better tolerate treatment-related side effects in order to reduce treatment delays or interruptions,” says Ussery. “I actively monitor my patients to ensure that we support them through every step of their journey with cancer.”

At CTCA®, Ussery works closely with physicians in the medical oncology outpatient clinic to oversee delivery of cancer treatments. She helps coordinate treatments to provide comprehensive cancer care tailored to each patient and his or her specific cancer. Ussery encourages patients to participate fully in all treatment decisions by providing information and answering questions.

Prior to joining CTCA, Ussery worked as a registered nurse in various health care settings before continuing her education and obtaining a certification as a family nurse practitioner from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Ussery earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. She went on to earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus on family nurse practitioner studies from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia.

Ussery and her husband live with their cairn terrier dog named Turner. Outside of CTCA, Ussery enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. She likes to be outdoors and may often be found gardening.
Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
