Kristen Nigro is a Nurse Navigator in the Gastrointestinal Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA). In April 2014, Nigro joined the CTCA® hospital near Atlanta. She has held various positions at the hospital, providing care and comfort to patients and their families.

Nigro is committed to the patient-focused principle, the Mother Standard® of care, upon which CTCA was founded. Working closely with other doctors and clinicians, she provides coordinated continuity of care for patients with gastrointestinal disease. Nigro is part of a wider integrative care team, designed to put patients at the center of their care, treating the disease and managing side effects so they can get back to their lives.

“I enjoy working in an environment that supports the commitment to providing quality, patient-centered care,” says Nigro. “I work closely with patients to coordinate their appointments, and I serve as a liaison between my patients and their care team. I am proud to be an advocate and educator for my patients and their families.”

Nigro served in Desert Storm with the U.S. Air Force Reserves. She then earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Trenton State College in Ewing, New Jersey. After graduation, Nigro has practiced as a registered nurse in a variety of health care settings.

Seeking out opportunities to grow and develop as a nurse is important to Nigro. She believes that continuing education is a great way to ensure that her knowledge and practices are current.

Outside of CTCA, Nigro likes spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys running and exercising. Nigro is also busy as the co-founder of Ellie’s Way, a non-profit that comforts the grieving.
Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
