About Me

Krisstina Gowin, D.O., is education director for the Cherng Family Center for Integrative Oncology and a hematologist and integrative medicine specialist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. Dr. Gowin is passionate about advancing cancer care by building a more holistic approach to the disease. In her role with the Cherng Center – one of the first programs of its kind to bring evidence-based integrative therapies to patients undergoing cancer treatment – Dr. Gowin’s expertise is a vital resource for those looking for innovative, research-based ways to support their treatment and recovery.

"I want patients to know they aren’t alone in exploring these therapies – and that there are trusted, evidence-based options available to them," she says.

Dr. Gowin’s clinical specialty is hematology-oncology, and she has deep experience treating myeloproliferative neoplasms, a rare type of blood cancer. She has published many research studies and is the author of Living Well with Myeloproliferative Neoplasm.

After completing her hematology and oncology fellowship at Mayo Clinic Arizona, Dr. Gowin pursued a fellowship in integrative medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, where she later served as fellowship director. Before that, she trained in internal medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and earned her medical degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Gowin has been honored with several awards, including the Humanism in Medicine Award, reflecting her strong commitment to whole-person cancer care.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
