Dr. John McKnight is dedicated to providing cancer care that is compassionate, up-to-date, and patient and family-focused. He believes in care of the "whole person," not just managing the disease.

Dr. McKnight does not limit his thinking or approaches to the care of a cancer patient by age or circumstance. With 25 years of oncology care experience, he understands the difference between aggressive care of advanced cancer versus care that is aggressive in the pursuit of alleviating pain and suffering.

"In my mind, the medical oncologist is there to guide the cancer patient's care," says Dr. McKnight, a medical oncologist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Atlanta. "It is the place where patients receive a more complete understanding of their illness, as well as direction for fighting the disease."

"CTCA® has done an incredible job of removing barriers so a doctor can be a doctor and patients can be embraced and be enveloped in care," he adds.

Dr. McKnight has many years of experience in treating a broad range of cancers. He has established a reputation in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and lung cancer. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. McKnight is dedicated to staying well-informed about the ever changing healthcare environment.
