Dr. Farhan Tahir joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Philadelphia, in October 2013 as a Rheumatologist, Pain Management Specialist and Director of Medical Education. At CTCA®, Dr. Tahir focuses on acute and chronic pain management for patients coping with all types of cancers and pain. In addition, he diagnoses and treats patients with musculoskeletal disease and systemic autoimmune conditions commonly referred to as rheumatic diseases.

“I lead an integrative pain management multi-disciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive plan of care for our patients,” says Dr. Tahir. “At CTCA, I help patients with pain and rheumatic diseases through a collaborative effort with other doctors and clinicians. My passion is to provide patients evidence-based medical treatment for inflammatory and rheumatological diseases with a focus on optimizing quality of life.”

Dr. Tahir moved to the United States after earning his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical University in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He completed an internal medicine residency at the New York University Downtown Hospital in New York City and a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Tahir is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has published myriad peer-reviewed publications and he is a member of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Tahir has professional experience in a variety of health care settings.

When he isn’t practicing medicine, Dr. Tahir enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He also likes reading books, traveling and biking.
