Inpatients at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Tulsa rely on Hospitalist Dr. Don King to coordinate their care and help develop their overall treatment plan.

Dr. King works together as part of a team to care for inpatients. He also understands that by explaining options to inpatients and assisting them in the decision-making process, he is empowering them to take control of their health and their path to recovery.

“When we meet, we consider the whole family unit, in addition to the patient,” says Dr. King. “I’ve had cancer and so has my wife, so we’re very sensitive to what it feels like to be challenged by cancer.” Dr. King and his team give patients the time and the information they need, so they are empowered to be good decision-makers.

Board certified in internal medicine and administrative medicine, Dr. King completed residencies in internal medicine at Pacific-Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco and the University of Illinois. He has held positions as assistant professor of internal medicine, chief of hospital services at the U.S. Air Force Hospital in Turkey and medical director at City of Faith Hospital in Tulsa.

When he’s not tending to patients, Dr. King and his wife, Rev. Joy D. King, MD (ret.), DMin, perform ministry work to help others, medically and spiritually.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
