Lumbar puncture for non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Lumbar puncture for non-Hodgkin lymphoma

We may perform a lumbar puncture, also called a spinal tap, to determine the extent of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Lumbar punctures may also be used to inject medications, such as chemotherapy drugs, to treat the disease.

What is a lumbar puncture?

A lumbar puncture (also called a spinal tap) is a procedure in which a needle is inserted into the lower part of the spinal column in order to remove cerebrospinal fluid, or to inject medication.
