Dr. Ivelisse Vargas Jon joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Chicago, in February 2017. As a Podiatrist, Dr. Vargas Jon works with patients experiencing foot conditions and neuropathic pain related to cancer treatment side effects. These foot issues may be common with cancer patients, and Dr. Vargas Jon helps patients improve quality of life and mobility.
Dr. Vargas Jon was drawn to CTCA® and the commitment to a team-approach to cancer care. She believes in treating the whole person, not just the disease. Dr. Vargas Jon works with patients to make sure they are aware of any potential foot complications related to cancer treatment and how to prevent them. For patients that are already experiencing foot conditions she tries to use minimally-invasive techniques whenever possible.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in General Sciences at the University of Dubuque-Iowa, Dr. Vargas Jon studied medicine at New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where she earned her doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM) degree. She then completed a competitive medicine and surgical residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.
Prior to joining CTCA, Dr. Vargas Jon worked as a podiatric surgeon for other health care organizations. Currently, she also serves as the owner and podiatric surgeon for Alliance Foot and Ankle Clinics in Greenfield, WI, and Zion, IL.
Dr. Vargas Jon is a member of many professional organizations, including the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.
When she is not at CTCA, Dr. Vargas Jon enjoys exploring the outdoors with her children and husband.
Patient ratings and comments
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
