Melanoma diagnostic evaluations
A melanoma diagnosis usually begins with a visual examination. The Melanoma Research Foundation and the American Cancer Society recommend monthly self-examinations and annual doctor visits to screen for potential skin cancer. But only a doctor can determine whether a suspicious spot or mole is melanoma or a less-invasive type of skin cancer.
A thorough and accurate cancer diagnosis is the first step in developing a melanoma treatment plan. Your multidisciplinary team of melanoma experts will evaluate the disease, and develop a treatment just for you. Throughout your treatment, we'll use imaging and laboratory tests to track the size of the tumors, monitor your response to treatment, and modify your plan when needed.
