About Joanne

Joanne McGovern became Chief Nursing Officer at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Philadelphia in October 2016 and was named Senior Vice President, Patient Care Services in March 2018. McGovern joined CTCA® in 2013, bringing with her more than 33 years of nursing experience. Prior to joining the executive team at our Philadelphia hospital, she served as Nurse Manager of the ICU before being promoted to Director of Nursing, and then was named Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services.

As Chief Nursing Officer, McGovern oversees and coordinates the hospital’s nursing departments, aligning nursing best practices with operational needs, patient safety requirements and coordinated care standards. Her responsibilities include elevating quality care for patients while implementing growth strategies for the hospital. McGovern also collaborates with members of the executive team to see that the hospital’s nursing services meet goals for efficiency, patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.

Before joining CTCA in Philadelphia, McGovern worked at Hahnemann University Hospital, serving as a clinical nurse educator in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. McGovern received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Gwynedd Mercy University in Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania, and earned her master’s degree in nursing education from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Organization of Nurse Executives and Oncology Nursing Society.

Originally from the Bridesburg area of Philadelphia, McGovern now lives with her husband in Warwick, Pennsylvania.
