Registered dietitian Samantha Peterson was inspired to join Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Phoenix, in April 2013 because of its patient-centered environment. She says, “CTCA® values an integrative and innovative approach to cancer care.”

Peterson completed a bachelor’s degree in nutrition with a focus on dietetics at Arizona State University in Phoenix. She also earned a master’s degree in nutrition from the university. Her master’s training included a year-long dietetic internship held in various settings, including healthcare agencies, hospitals, community clinics and government institutions. She earned several scholarships throughout her academic career, along with a grant for nutrition-focused research.

Peterson is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Central District of Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

At CTCA Phoenix, Peterson counsels patients and provides nutrition assessments. She and the nutrition team offer research- and evidence-based nutrition therapy. The team takes a proactive approach to implementing recent nutrition study findings.

Peterson enjoys participating in community and wellness outreach, providing nutrition counseling and education through various projects and events.

Peterson values the trust built among patients, caregivers and health care providers at CTCA, as well as the warmth. She says, “I love seeing so many smiles from the patients, caregivers and stakeholders. CTCA is such a passionate and caring environment.”
