As a Clinical Oncology Dietitian at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Melissa Picchietti creates individual nutrition plans based on each patient's medical history and individual needs. She is committed to helping patients maintain nutritional balance while undergoing cancer treatment, so they can reach their short- and long-term goals.

Picchietti works on a multidisciplinary care team with Drs. Herbert H. Beck III and Eugene Ahn at CTCA® Chicago. The patient-centered model of care at CTCA allows her to work closely with a team of doctors, nurses and clinicians. Picchietti’s role on the team is to assess each patient’s nutritional status and provide nutritional recommendations and strategies to help keep them strong and healthy throughout cancer treatment.

Picchietti sees the relationship between her and her patients as a partnership. “It is important to me that I build a rapport with my patients to support their nutritional and health goals. Through proper nutrition, I want my patients to maintain or increase their strength and energy,” says Picchietti. “I take as much time as necessary to educate my patients and answer questions they may have.”

Picchietti earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human nutrition and dietetics at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. She then completed a Dietetic Internship at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Prior to joining CTCA, Picchietti provided nutritional support in a variety of health care settings. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration, Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group and Diabetes Care and Education Dietetic Practice Group.

Outside of CTCA, Picchietti enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also likes drawing, painting, running, hiking and spending time outdoors.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
