Lacy Richards, Mind-Body Therapist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), is focused on the emotional impact cancer has on patients and their loved ones. Richards joined the CTCA® hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in August 2017.

Richards assists patients and caregivers in processing their fears and concerns, and in supporting them through difficult transitions. Through mind-body therapies, Richards promotes cathartic uses of journaling, mindfulness techniques and breathing exercises to help alleviate anxiety and distress.

“I help my patients build restful minds and hearts, so they can focus on their cancer treatment and healing,” says Richards. “I share my positive energy with patients and guide them through therapies to help them feel confident, physically, spiritually and emotionally.”

Richards studied psychology at Northeastern State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She completed her Master of Science degree in counseling at Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Richards’ training included an internship at CTCA in Tulsa, where she facilitated individual and family therapies using strength-based techniques. Richards also administered grief therapy for those coping with a cancer diagnosis or end-of-life concerns. At CTCA, Richards found the staff and patients were encouraging, helpful and hopeful. After completing her internship, she knew she wanted to be part of an organization focused on personalized patient care and was excited to join the team at CTCA.

Outside of CTCA, Richards enjoys spending time with her husband, son and dachshund. Her husband is a craft beer brewer who plans to open a brewery. Together, they participate in many local beer festivals.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
