Danielle Hill was certain she would attend culinary school, but when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, her love of food became focused on nutrition. “I began to really consider how what we eat affects our bodies,” says Hill, Clinical Oncology Dietitian at Cancer Treatment Centers of America ® (CTCA), Chicago.

Hill earned her Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Dayton in Ohio. Her dedication to nutrition therapy and education was deepened during her work as a summer counselor and dietitian with the Dayton Diabetes Association.

During her Dietetic Internship at Mount Mary University in Wisconsin, Hill completed rotations with United Hospital System and the Gerald L. Ignace Health Center, also in Wisconsin. Her training focused on medical nutrition therapy for diabetes, heart disease, end-stage renal disease, and other serious conditions. She also provided education and counseling sessions.

Hill is a certified ServSave® Manager. An active member of her community, she has offered her time and skills as a volunteer with Five Rivers MetroParks and the Student Dietetic Association at the University of Dayton.

At CTCA®, Hill works with a multidisciplinary team to care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. She provides suggestions, often on a daily basis, regarding diet and nutrition to assist patients through their treatment and to maintain good health afterwards. She also educates patients about diabetes and constantly educates herself on the latest research regarding nutrition and cancer.

When she is not teaching others about healthy lifestyles, Hill is busy practicing her own, and she loves cooking for family and friends.
