“The environment here matches my professional values,” says Britt Hermann, Survivorship Social Worker at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Chicago. “I believe in putting patients first, and CTCA® enables me to do that.”

Hermann earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at Carthage College in Wisconsin in 2012. She completed her Master of Social Work, specializing in health, at Loyola University School of Social Work in Chicago in 2013. She completed the University of Michigan Sexual Health program in 2014.

During her undergraduate years, Hermann facilitated group counseling sessions at a local community center for individuals coping with mental illness or in need of support. She also worked with a sexual abuse center, receiving training in crisis intervention and facilitating prevention programs. From 2012 to 2013, during her master’s training, Hermann worked with a long-term care center in Chicago, performing clinical assessments, facilitating individual and group therapy sessions, and creating a wellness therapy group.

Hermann, a certified sex therapist by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, joined CTCA in 2013. As a Survivorship Clinical Social Worker, she provides counseling, facilitates individual and family therapy, performs clinical assessments and recommends interventions. She also provides education on the long-term effects of cancer treatment. In addition, Hermann counsels individuals and couples on intimacy and sexuality during and after cancer treatment, with a goal of enabling couples to protect and reclaim their relationship. “Using solution-focused techniques, I help patients recognize barriers to their goals and find ways to overcome them one step at a time,” says Hermann.

Outside of CTCA, Hermann enjoys spending time with her children and many animals, hiking, knitting and jogging.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
